The best part of being part of farmers markets across the state is, by far, the community.
I wanted some produce today, but knew the vendor next to me only took cash.
"I'll wait," I said.
Instead, she offered me produce at the end of the market, along with a few others.
Kale
Lettuce (2 kinds)
Onion
Green onion
Radishes
Potatoes
Sweet peas
I also picked up some garlic scapes, an owl beeswax candle, homemade soap, and some egg rolls (also free!) from . Still some of the best egg rolls in Minnesota.
And thanks to a dear friend, I came home with three dozen eggs.
Today was an amazing human day.

Yesterday's garden experiment: homemade chocolate mint syrup. 🌿🍫

Made with fresh chocolate mint growing right outside my deck and slowly infused into a rich syrup. The flavor is fresh, cooling, and herbaceous.

I love finding ways to preserve the garden beyond the growing season. This one is definitely a keeper.

A fresh lineup of scratch-made meals designed to make the week a little easier.

○Waldorf Salad Crisp with Grilled Chicken- green apples, garden lettuce, Minnesota wild rice, sharp cheddar and housemade dressing.
○ Chicken Caesar Wraps- Seasoned flat-top grilled chicken, homemade Caesar dressing, croutons, and fresh parmesan wrapped in tomato basil tortillas. Served with roasted garlic broccoli.
○Chicken Tarragon Salad & Minestrone: chicken tarragon salad paired with your choice of two artisan bagels and a hearty homemade minestrone soup.

This is the easiest thing to grow if you know how to prepare it! First major thing we can harvest and it keeps giving you fresh leaves through out the year.

Kale is actually one of my husband's favorite oddly enough and here is the salad (thanks to my mom) that we make:

Kale Parmesan Salad
1 bunch of fresh Kale
Parmesan shaved or shredded (we prefer shaved)
About 1/2 cup of dried cranberries

Dressing:
EVOO
S&P
lemon juice

First mix the dressing and mix with Kale-massaging gently onto the leaves. Let Kale sit for about 5-10 minutes to soften the leaves.

Add berries and Parmesan and voila! I top with maldon salt right before serving
