Today is our last day in El Paso! 😩😭🌵🏜️

We wanted to say thank you all so much for all of your business and support. We will miss the home we had here but look forward to our new start in Washington DC!! We would like to ask one last favor to help us grow our business out in the DC area! Bittersweet News: A New Adventure on the Horizon

We have some news to share with our valued customers and friends. As some of you may already know, we have slowed down our attendance at markets since my husband John was deployed to Europe last summer. The good news is that he will be returning home soon. However, the reason for his return is to move to Washington DC, where he has accepted a new job. While we're thrilled to embark on a new adventure, it is also heartbreaking to leave behind the wonderful community we've come to know and love in El Paso. The locals here are the kindest and most generous people we've ever met. With no confirmed date for our move, we are unable to take more orders at this time, except for those we've already received. But we're hoping and praying that we'll be able to attend one last market on February 11th, just in time for Valentine's Day! We promise to keep everyone updated on our plans. We'll always hold a special place in our hearts for El Paso, and we'll miss our home here dearly.

♥️Meet the Couple Behind
Emma's Place Home Bakery♥️

Hello everyone! I'm excited to share a little bit about our story. You may have seen our posts about our delicious cookies and baked goods, or perhaps spotted us at local farmers markets. However, we want to take a moment to introduce ourselves and the love and passion that go into our treats. Emma's Place Bakery is owned and operated by Vanessa and John Herrera. Our business name is in honor of John's grandmother, who raised him and instilled a love of cooking in him.

John is active duty and has an impressive culinary background, having graduated from culinary school and worked as an executive chef before joining the military. When we met, we bonded over our shared passion for culinary arts. I was managing a Creole restaurant in Washington State at the time, and John would drive an hour almost every day to bring me his homemade banana nut chocolate chip cookies. They were and still are absolutely divine! In just a few short months, we were married with a baby on the way. Now, we have three beautiful girls and are still happily baking and cooking together.

As for myself, growing up with a single mother who worked tirelessly to make ends meet, I learned to cook at a young age. Despite the lack of resources in those days, I worked hard in fast food restaurants while yearning for a job at a proper restaurant. Unfortunately, nobody would hire me without experience. One day, I took a chance and applied for a dishwasher position at a new restaurant in town. The owner was skeptical, but I persisted and eventually landed the job. From there, I worked my way up from prep cook to line cook, busser, server, bartender, assistant manager, and finally, general manager.

Working at the restaurant was like being part of a family, and I can never thank the owners enough for everything they taught me. After six fulfilling years, it was time for me to move on. While it was an emotional experience, I was excited to start a new chapter in El Paso. This city has shown us great kindness, and we are grateful for the opportunity to continue doing what we love while raising our family.

💔 My heart is broken for this family. Anything helps💔

In the early hours of December 17th, Marcos’ mobile home caught fire. Unfortunately, everything in their house burned or is ruined due to smoke damage. Along with everything being lost, and in an attempt in helping rescue his family, he also lost one of his twin children. I am asking for donations for this family as they now do not have any of the bare necessities, as well as any of the essentials needed for caring for a his 1 year old. As well as cover hospital costs and funeral expenses. I pray that we can rally together as a community and provide some hope and support for Marcos and his family at this time. Please share!

Junto con todo lo que se perdió, y en un intento de ayudar a rescatar a su familia, también perdió a uno de sus hijos gemelos. Estoy pidiendo donaciones para esta familia, ya que ahora no tienen ninguna de las necesidades básicas, así como ninguno de los elementos esenciales necesarios para cuidar a su hija de 1 año.
