Solomon had everything a man could have in life, he had every means of satisfying himself; he tried the beastly line, the sublime line, the aesthetic line, the intellectual line but, he says, you cannot find your lasting joy in any of them. Joy is only to be found in your relationship to God while you live on this earth, the earth you came from and the earth you return to. Dust is the finest element in man, because in it the glory of God is to be manifested. What God created is a satisfaction to God, but until we come to know Him there is a great deal in His creation we shrug our shoulders over. Once we come to understand God we are as delighted with His creation as He is Himself. A child enjoys what God created, everything is wonderful to him. The religious elite demand that Jesus prove his authority. Jesus points out that there are already enough witnesses confirming his identity:

John the Baptist: He already publicly testified that Jesus is the Lamb of God.
His Works: The healing of the paralyzed man at the pool of Bethesda is a direct Messianic sign. As Isaiah 35 predicted, the lame will walk when the Messiah comes. These works are the Father’s visible confirmation.
The Father: God himself testifies to his Son—whether through the audible voice at his baptism or the work of the Holy Spirit. The critics fail to see this because of their closed hearts.
Moses and Scripture: All of Scripture points to Jesus. Anyone who truly believes Moses would have to recognize Jesus, because Moses wrote about him.
The problem for these critics is not a lack of evidence. They are accused of seeking human praise more than the glory of God. Their unwillingness to come to Jesus prevents them from finding life.

Reflection: How did you realize that Jesus is the Son of God?

John 5:31-47 NIV
[31] “If I testify about myself, my testimony is not true. [32] There is another who testifies in my favor, and I know that his testimony about me is true. [33] “You have sent to John and he has testified to the truth. [34] Not that I accept human testimony; but I mention it that you may be saved.
