Did something crazy this weekend… I entered a cake decorating competition for in Fish Creek! The theme was “Winter Warm-Up”. She didn’t win, but my cake was sure fun to make! My eggless chocolate cake tasted delish, the homemade marshmallow fondant scarf and mittens turned out better than I thought, and the hand piped buttercream knit design on my chocolate hat went great! Baked, frosted, and fondant made all in 3 hours! I’m getting better at this cake thing 🍰

GF chocolate chip banana bread to kick off the week. I never liked bananas, but I’ve learned to tolerate them as they add natural sweetness and moisture so I can reduce the fat and added sugar. 🍌

I have never been a huge food coloring fan, but keep this in mind for your next cake/cookie order that once I run out of the reds I have, I will not be buying anymore until I can find a more natural option that doesn’t break the bank or take a whole bottle to give me the color I need.

The FDA is revoking the authorization for the use of FD&C Red No. 3 based on the Delaney Clause of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FD&C Act).
