Hello friends............here at the Pennsylvania Native American Flute Circle we are striving to make beautiful music for all to enjoy. Whether you want to learn to play this amazingly easy instrument or just want to come and sit and listen to everyone else play, we encourage you to come to a monthly event. The group is free and open to everyone of all ages. We will even teach you how to play. We have had starter players as young as 4-5 years playing and those in their 80's+ picking it up for the first time. BUT, be forewarned.....you will love it and will want to start playing...rarely does anyone ever say, "nah, that's not for me". (In fact I have NEVER had someone say that to me!)
The group meets every 2nd Sunday (except for Mother's Day, then we meet the following weekend) at 12 noon in winter (we are inside) and statrtng at 1pm in summer (we play outside then). We meet at Indian Echo Caverns in Hummelstown Pa (betweeen Hershey and Harrisburg). We even get the opportunity to play down INSIDE Indian Echo Caverns. We try to do this every 2 years and we are planning a cavern-play this fall, 2017.
Some members are also flute makers so you can get a "starter" flute there or a higher end flute. Many even make weatherproof flutes from PVC (I have one in my truck at all times!!) that are very affordable (under $20). I good starter wooden flute can usually be had for about $100 as well. The gift shop at Indian Echos also sales flutes.
So what are you waiting for??????? Come see what it is all about. You may have seen us at local Pow-wows or gathering and said to yoursef, "Man I love that sound, I wish I could play like that." NOW YOU CAN.
