We've been on a cheesecake kick lately and decided that try a new cheesecake for a belated birthday for my mother over the weekend with the leftover batter from the market!

We'll be taking the week off to catch up on clerical and personal work and rest. While we make things look flawless behind the scenes, the reality is I'm a sole-operator with no employees, running e-commerce, wedding and markets of 18-36 hour shifts multiple times a week, unable to take calls in the day because Im driving 6-8 hrs each day as well. Working through my weekends into the next week and dealing with some major health issues all while being the caretaker for my parents has finally just taken its toll. In short, a geriatric overwhelmed solo baker! Phew! 🥵

Behind each photo is passion, love and devotion to my craft but also sacrifice, sometimes tears and countless naps in my car. Working shifts before family funerals during the pandemic, working on my off days to provide happines for friends, family and customer who have also lost their own loved ones. I dont regret any day I get to bake for my community but I also have to remember with passion and dedication comes rest and recharging.

I'm luckily able to listen to my body and take the week to recoup and enjoy a holiday with family! I hope you all enjoy your 4th of July and get to support some of the most phenomenal bakers of our area! Please feel free to post your favorite bakeries in the area and share with the community why they make you happy.

I could find no other cake more fitting for today, my Mother's Birthday Cake from last year!

Even though Mother's Day is a few months away I want to acknowledge my own mother who has been with me on this traditional art turned cake art journey since I was a teen!
The strength, compassion and power she showed through the ups and downs allowed me to see how strong women can really be especially when supporting each other.

The women I've met in this community have been nothing but gracious, inspiring and empowering and for that, I thank you! I hope to inspire through my journey as well. Happy !!!
