Everyone meet Jessie, aka Mamaw. Today she turns 100 years old. She’s a pretty special person. She’s the one that taught me how to make her famous fried pies. The one whose recipes I use for my chocolate, coconut, and pecan pies.

A funny story about Mamaw about 6 years ago I wanted to learn how to make her famous fried pies. My mom told me “just to call Mamaw and ask her, she would love to teach you.” Well I did and of course she said “yes just come on over one day and I’ll teach you.” Well I decided it would be a great opportunity to share these famous fried apple pies with others, so I posted on Facebook I would be selling them, thinking I’d get maybe 15 orders. Well I was wrong I got way over that and ended up selling over 100 pies. I’ll never forget telling my Mamaw we had to make over a 100 pies in one day. Being the kind soul she is she just laughed and said “let’s get to work.” So we made A LOT of pies that day, but more importantly we made memories that both of us still cherish to this day.

So, everyone please join me in wishing Mamaw a happy birthday🎉
