It’s finally fall, which means soup season! Potato Chowder is one of my many favorites. This recipe is little bits pulled from several people’s versions. Growing up we had a boring potato soup that was simply butter, milk, onion, celery, potatoes, salt and pepper. My mother-in-law always put in dumplings and my friend used chicken broth. My husband can’t eat anything without cheese and evaporated milk gives a richer flavor and doesn’t separate. My soup is thick, making it a chowder, thanks to the dumplings. Many proteins can be added to your taste such as ham, rotisserie chicken, browned ground beef…or make it with vegetable broth and a variety of vegetables for a vegetarian option, hold the cheese.

Today we were on the move delivering to the elders again. This time French toast and breakfast bowls of scrambled eggs, hash browns and sausage links. Also meatloaf muffins with garlic mashed potatoes and fresh green beans.

Nola’s Comfort Food was in the move making breakfasts, dinner and dessert with a couple extra sides. Pancakes with sausage, scrambled eggs with hash browns and sausage, chicken fried steak with mashed potatoes and corn, fried cabbage with bacon and onions, pasta salad and strawberry shortcake. All delivered for some older folks to enjoy this week. I didn’t get a picture of dessert, but it was tasty looking. Then I grilled some bacon wrapped filets for our dinner.
