2 MONTHS POST-OP!!! š¤
How on EARTH has it already been 2 months since my hip bone was surgically broken⦠AGAIN?! š³
It honestly feels like yesterday I was still in the hospital, waking up from surgery and asking when I could have some food. š And now here we are ā 2 months later!
Overall, I have been doing really well. Iām still working on learning how to walk again, and let me tell you⦠it has been quite the challenge. š¬
During surgery, many of the muscles around the hip are shifted and everything is working with a completely new hip alignment. Now all of those muscles have to learn how to work together again and support my body in a way they havenāt had to before. Itās a process, and unfortunately, it can take a LONG time.
But Iām learning to appreciate the tiny victories.
Every step.
Every extra .5 lb of weight.
Every muscle squeeze.
Every new exercise.
They may seem so small, but each one is another step toward full healing and, ultimately, a life without pain. š¤
Today in PT, I started some new exercises focused on strengthening my b***y muscles to help better support my hip and body weight. šš Iāve also been getting lots of massage and stretching throughout the day to help loosen everything up and encourage healing.
Iāve been bouncing between my walker and crutches, depending on what my body needs. I am definitely NOT ready to walk on my own yet, but I know Iāll get there⦠eventually. š¤ One day at a time!
And honestly, this recovery has taught me more about patience than I ever wanted to learn. š Itās hard when you want your body to be further along, but healing simply cannot be rushed.
Through every frustrating day, every little victory, and every setback, God has been so faithful. šš¼ He has given me strength on the days I didnāt have much left and reminded me that His timing is always better than mine.
š” FAMILY UPDATE
The kids have adjusted so well to being back at school! Our days are now filled with school drop-offs and pick-ups, lunch boxes, snacks galore, homework, and trying to keep everyone on schedule. š
And our 3-year-old has apparently decided she is ALSO a student now. She has added herself to the homework routine and canāt wait to sit at the kitchen counter with the big kids and do her own āhomework.ā šš
It has definitely been an adjustment getting everyone back into our school routine, but weāre finding our rhythm again.
š BAKERY UPDATE
And then thereās my little sourdough starter. š„¹š
She has been dormant since June and is somehow still thriving! My husband will be waking her up soon, getting her fed and happy again, and eventually multiplying her so we can start preparing for all the fall flavors. š
I canāt wait to get back to baking and bringing A Little Piece of Heaven back to life after this long recovery. Thereās something really special about knowing that while Iāve been healing, my starter has been patiently waiting too. š¤
Two months down. So much healing still ahead.
But Iām here. Iām moving. Iām getting stronger. And Iām incredibly thankful for every single little step.
Slow progress is still progress. š¤šš¼
