Hillel at SMU Hillel at SMU is your Jewish home away from home. Hillel at SMU is the Jewish home away from home for our SMU campus community.

We value meaningful relationships, joyful learning, the celebration of Jewish life and the development of leaders who are world changers. During the fall and spring semesters, we host many Shabbat dinners, Bagel Mondays, social events, holiday celebrations, Jewish learning and discussions on a wide variety of topics. Under the leadership of our Director, Rabbi Heidi Coretz, our student advisory bo

ard and our board of directors, Hillel at SMU is a thriving organization. Hillel at SMU also serves as a bridge between the local Jewish community and the college students. Along with the support of The Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas, and our local synagogues, we are active partners in the Dallas Jewish community. Our students are invited to attend many community events as well as holiday and Shabbat worship services at local temples, shuls, and synagogues. All of our events are warm and welcoming. We have wonderful members who care about one another and socialize outside of Hillel programming. This is a place to find and keep Jewish friends for a lifetime. Israel Independence Day Celebration 🎉

Join us on April 26th, 2026, from 12:30–4:00 PM as our community comes together to celebrate Yom Ha'atzmaut, marking 78 years of Israel's independence.

And we're very excited to share that the reigning MISS ISRAEL, the wonderful Melanie Shiraz, will be joining us for this special celebration, adding even more energy and pride to an already meaningful day.

We invite everyone to gather to show solidarity, celebrate Israeli culture, and reflect on all there is to be proud of, especially our community and connection.
