Yup, it's been a while since I've updated the ole FB FS page, but lots going on since last year. But in honor of May the Fourth, possibly the first published "Mandalorian" storyboards! "The Gunslinger" script had Mando making a pit stop on Tatooine, and even called out a shot of the twin suns outside his cockpit, and the Razor Crest flying toward Mos Eisley in a "familiar view from a rock outcropping," but nothing else about the approach to the planet. I suggested, "you can't fly to Tatooine without referencing the most famous opening tilt-down shot in cinema history," so I re-created it. A career high, next to the first time I drew the "Enterprise" in a storyboard at Paramount back in '01..

Time for an update! It was a VERY busy 2nd half of 2018, transitioning from Fox/Disney's "Call of the Wild" with Harrison Ford, directed by the awesome Chris Sanders, to another Disney/LucasFilm project that finished out the year... Can't say much about the latter project, but I'll just leave this here for your amusement...

It’s looking like the first round of footage from Disney’s The Mandalorian, the upcoming Star Wars spinoff series that will be exclusive to Disney’s not-yet-launched streaming TV …

Just finished 5 months on a "virtual"/live action version of a classic Jack London tale, so I thought this news of another "virtual" production was interesting. For no particular reason. :-)

Will use same technology in Lion King remake

Even though I'm currently working with the team that did "War for the Planet of the Apes," I'd like to think I'm not biased... I thought "War" was the most impressive of all the potential noms even before joining the team, as the subtlety of performance and realism of the animals, especially in extreme close-ups, was breathtaking... Blade Runner was pretty and all, and Last Jedi impressive, but still just more "Star Wars" spacebattles and alien planets...

It's sci-fi spectacles vs. character work in this year's VFX Oscar race, which will be whittled down to the five nominees on Saturday.
