5th Course Bakery focuses on bringing family and friends together through irresistible desserts. We want people to remember the feeling of everyone around the table on the holidays, going out after a win, or celebrating a new job with those you love, the feeling of togetherness. We love to see the smile on peoples faces when presented with a delicious dessert!
We are looking for a reliable bakery assistant to be responsible for creating, developing, assisting in baking delicious recipes for our customers!
To be successful in this role you must be ready to learn, follow written and spoken instruction and pay particular attention to detail.
Responsibilities:
Operating and managing the pastry section of the kitchen and liaising with the manager to ensure a successful working environment.
Preparing ingredients and handling baking and kitchen equipment.
Comfortable with working with commercial bakery equipment and around high heat equipment such as the oven.
Creating pastries, baked goods, and confections, by following a set recipe.
Developing new recipes for seasonal menus.
Decorating pastries and desserts to ensure a beautiful and tasteful presentation.
Monitoring the stock of baking ingredients.
Ordering new supplies, ingredients, and equipment when needed, and within budget.
Ensuring their section of the kitchen adheres to safety and health regulations.
Supervising and training staff members, when needed.
Tracking ingredient expiry dates and arranging their use accordingly.
Proficiency in weighing and packaging baked goods
All other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
High school diploma.
State approved food handling permit (Can obtain within 90 days of hiring)
Working knowledge of baking techniques and the pastry-making process.
Keen attention to detail.
Must be ready to learn, follow written and spoken instruction and pay particular attention to detail.
Evening working hours
Capable of working in a fast-paced, production environment.
Able to stand up to 8 hours
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
