As it turns out, people DO want this Plum Spice cake for Christmas! 6 inch, three layer cake with plum filling is now available for $30. I only have a limited number of baking times available from now until Christmas so if you want anything off the menu, get those orders in now!

Christmas is my favorite and in years past I have worked tirelessly in December to make special happen for others. In January I felt the Lord calling me to create special for myself for my sake and for no one else’s.
Sometimes living alone, I don’t do a great job of creating special just for me, because it’s not worth it, but when you dissect that thought, it is basically saying that I am not worth it. That is not a thought that sits well with me and so Jesus and I were really working hard to create special just for me at the beginning of the year.
And thennnnn...2020 became 2020 and I forgot.
But lately, He has reminded me. As I look at this month I marvel at how God was preparing me for a quieter December without some of my favorite gatherings.
He was preparing me for this a year ago and now I know how to create special for myself.
Today that looked like making this cake I’ll probably never sell because Plum Spice Cake just doesn’t sound like a thing most people would want to try. But I am not most people and I wanted to try it. So I cranked up my new favorite song, danced in my kitchen, and made a thing that tastes so good!
We may be really living in it this year, Friends, but if I had to guess, if you really think about it, your Jesus was getting you ready for it too.

Did some test baking last night for Christmas specials...Introducing, Star of Gabriel, named after my nephew who inspired this bake with his deep devotion to NUTELLA! Oh yea, ladies and gentlemen, that is Nutella in between those layers! And in the words of said nephew, “Hmm, this is good. This is REALLY good!” Available December 1st!

A special, newly turned 15 year old in my life asked for a lemon cake for her birthday. It’s always fun to be a part of special celebrations so when she made a special request for the lemon, cream cheese frosting to be pink...well, who am I to say no to that!
For future reference, Lyric’s Lemon Cake will be an option for here on out. The Classic Lemon Cake will still be on the menu but if you want a little pink in your celebration just ask for Lyric’s.
And I know I buried the lead, but there are 7 Lyric’s Lemon Cupcakes up for grabs! $3/each while supplies last!

Fall is my favorite and it’s got me thinking of all my favorite fall flavors so I’ve been in the kitchen the last two weekends trying to get this recipe right. Be on the look out for the NEW Pumpkin Pie Cake on the seasonal menu starting in October. With a pumpkin pie filling, a shortbread cookie crumble, and a cream cheese cinnamon frosting, this will make any fall get together a hit! Only be available through Thanksgiving.

I’m not quite sure which birthday it was but one day I determined that it wasn’t going to be my birthday without my grandmoma’s Red Velvet Cake. I love this cake so much I won’t even eat Red Velvet Cake if it isn’t my grandmoma’s recipe. About 6 years ago we stopped putting the red food coloring in it because...red food dye? 😱
I thought about including it in the ones I’ll sell but I can’t sell something I wouldn’t serve to my family.
So for those who’ve been asking for Kathryn’s Kitchen to produce a Red Velvet Cake...I wonder if you’ll trust me and order our Red-Less Velvet Cake instead?
