So what the heck is a Celebrant and why are they important you may ask?
A Funeral Celebrant is a specially trained individual, whether a layperson, clergy member, or funeral director, who crafts and conducts unique funeral services tailored to the wishes of each family. As society becomes more mobile and less tied to traditional religious institutions, many people find themselves without a clergy person to turn to in times of loss. Additionally, the preference for non-religious funeral ceremonies is growing, making the role of Funeral Celebrants increasingly vital.
This innovative practice, widely adopted in England, New Zealand and Australia, has transformed the way funerals are conducted. In these countries, Civil Celebrants, licensed by the government, perform over half of all funerals and weddings.
Last week I trained together with participants from across the country, including attendees from Vancouver, BC and Hong Kong, China. I am now equipped to offer personalized funeral services, tributes, memorials, and graveside ceremonies. I work closely with families and if applicable, their funeral director, to design services that truly reflect the lives and legacies of their loved ones.
I am excited to introduce this option to the families served by Poole Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Cleveland and beyond. I look forward to offering personalized funeral celebrations and memorial services in the near future, bringing a new level of meaning and comfort to those in and around my community.
