You probably think this is just an ordinary cookie, but you’re wrong…

⭐️In celebration of Laika Studio’s newest stop-motion film, I wanted to create a cookie for the rest of October inspired by the one that started it all - Coraline. 💙💛
These gigantic Blue Velvet Cookies are stuffed with a black cheesecake filling to mirror the sinister motive of an otherwise whimsical, dream-come-true world.

These will be available at
Market On Fifth from 6pm-9pm
and
Tied Together Collective Mondays-Thursdays.

⭐️I have an immense, deep appreciation and respect for Laika Studios. Animation is one of my favorite mediums of art as it comes to life before our eyes. Stop-motion especially takes that art to the highest tier of patience, practicality, imagination, and talent.

Did you know that it took nearly 4 years to complete Coraline?
-Wildwood was done at 24 frames per second, meaning it took 190,080 frames to finish this film!
-142,000 3D-printed faces were made for all the puppets to be as expressive as possible.
-Each costume was hand-sewn, crocheted, molded, and specially designed for movement, lighting, and function.
-The skin of each puppet was spackled with paint, some with multiple replacement pieces such as arms that looked best for that specific scene. What attention to detail!

⭐️Many of you may know I am a one-woman show from start to finish, and refrain from using generative Ai for any reason. The vision of Laika Studios demonstrates how hard work and patience can become a skill that developed into a very real talent.

🥳Take a Whisk LLC turns TWO today!💜

We’re barely old enough to walk, but I’m so looking forward to what lies ahead for many years to come.

Unlike many, when I started my small business, I didn’t have anything to invest in. I started with absolutely nothing. My first tent was actually a gift! It’s taken two years to finally design and buy a sandwich board sign, but I did that all on my own because of all of you!

Leaving the industry as a Sous Chef has been hard for many reasons, but it’s been one of the most rewarding and liberating things of my life. I left because I fell victim to SA (sadly a common situation for women in the kitchen industry) with no one believing me. I lost my spark becoming a broken, scared person. But I didn’t want to give up.

Take a Whisk is more than just a pun, it’s a purpose! I have full ownership of my recipes, designs, business practice, and my life again and I couldn’t be more thankful. Each and every one of you has made an impact on me, and I want to mirror that by always delivering professional quality with care, to inspire people to “take a whisk” and try new things, and that the science of baking and pastry isn’t as scary as it may seem.
I am truly honored to serve each and every one of you.

This is dedicated to my grandparents on my mother’s side, as well as my recently passed grandfather on my biological father’s side. I love you more.💜

I wanted to take a moment to give a public shout-out and thank you to Compassion Confection Co. LLC for her overwhelming kindness today.

I had one of the worst markets since the start of my small business 2 years ago (tomorrow) due to an over-saturation of professional bakers, which lead to losing a substantial amount of time, ingredients, and revenue for labor and supplies. Her kindness reaching out to her own loyal customer base led to two sales today that helped prevent the loss of more product.

Thank you so much for the opportunity to create this soft, whimsical cake inspired by his favorite artist and love song. It was a pleasure to “sweeten” his special day.💜

Featured inside this little beauty is a cotton candy sponge cake tinted with layers of purple and pink, covered with a gentle blanket of vanilla Swiss buttercream made with pure Mexican vanilla extract for a slightly floral finish to balance the sweet crumb.

Just like everything featured at markets, every single special occasion cake is made entirely from scratch without the use of artificial ingredients. The lovely golden yellow is part of my collection of colors I purchased as a Sous Chef using the ever-amazing Chef Rubber

Creating this hilarious Patrick Star cake inspired by a classic scene from the SpongeBob SquarePants Movie was a blast! Inside is a decadent devil’s food dark chocolate cake accompanied by a pure Mexican vanilla simple syrup, and topped with classic vanilla Italian buttercream. All beautifully bright colors each were purchased with my very favorite Chef Rubber gels.

Sugar, spice, and Boston Cream Pie. ☺️
Thank you for trusting Take a Whisk LLC to “sweeten” your Father’s Day!

A light, fluffy vanilla cake traditionally done with the hot milk method companied with a custard such as the pastry cream shown here, and rich chocolate ganache on top. It’s the perfect summertime cake that’s packed with flavor without being too heavy on the tummy. The food-grade plastic you see around the cake is called acetate. I use it to help keep the cake’s integrity in shape for a sharper presentation until served as it requires refrigeration.

Fun fact: Did you know it’s called “pie” because most households back long ago would usually have a single pan? “Cake” and “pie” were used interchangeably. The name still sticks to this day!

⭐️Take a Whisk LLC remains in full operation all summer while taking a short break from markets until the beginning of September.
⭐️All delivery fees are waived! All you need to do is share what you’re thinking of ordering and I will make it happen.
