POV: Easter Carrot cake
Mini lesson that cake is still good broken or in whatever shape and form it is and turns into. Just because it’s not perfect doesn’t mean it’s inedible.
Just like you, whoever you are reading this, just because you’re going through it, feel broken or defeated, you’re still beautiful inside and out and amazing as you are fearfully wonderfully made (read Psalm 139:14). Yes, YOU!
😆 We had the cake sitting out while we were chatting, and it was gradually leaning back then it toppled over.
Structurally it did this because I didn’t chill it very long and I didn’t put any reinforcements in.
🎂 When cutting a half eaten cake to store for future slices whenever youd like a slice, here’s how:
-stack it back together
-grab something flat like a cutting board, cookie sheet or flat surface and a large knife (chef, serrated, bread, or cake cutting knife works)
-cut it lengthwise (not like party triangles)
-the large flat pieces of cake (they should look like large pieces of bread) should be laying down, now slice them into however large or small slices as you’d like
(psst: 2” wide is close to a sample/cupcake size, 3-4” is a more typical cake slice size)
-package them individually or together. A few options: a plastic container next to each other and separate the layers with parchment or plastic wrap, individually wrap with parchment or plastic and store in a bag, individually wrap with plastic wrap and put in the freezer
🍰 If you want to store it like a wedding cake, put 2-3 straws in to prop it up. Wrap it around a couple times and ways with plastic wrap, then to prevent freezer burn, wrap again with foil. Make sure NO AIR will get to it. Stick it in the fridge and take out after a year. Or, take it out for a piece whenever. I personally vote the latter of the two because why not 😉 🤭.
