Hi everyone! It has been a long time since I have written anything here. Life has a way of keeping me busy, but I thought I would take a few minutes and catch you all up on where life has taken me since I last posted.After adventuring to Grand Rapids for a year and chefing at MDRD with so many talented people, I made the decision to head back to Travese City. Traverse City has always had my heart.❤️ I am blessed to have landed at Modern Bird...a relaxed, fine dining restaurant in downtown. I have the honor of being back doing what I love most....creating beautiful desserts with Emily, one of the owners of the restaurant. Since being there I have had the privilege of assisting with the Womens' Dinner during the Traverse City Wine and Food Festival. There I got to work along side Emily from Modern Bird and many, many talented women in the culinary industry. A couple weeks ago Modern Bird was recognized by the New York Times as being one of the 50 best restaurants in the United States. What an honor to be able to a part of that recognition. Along with my 'day job', I am still baking for others. This weekend I just did a wedding for a dear friend and his now wife.

And the Best Taste Award goes to.....MDRD! 🏆🏅👨‍🍳👨‍🍳👩🏼‍🍳I had so much fun Monday!!!! I forgot how much I enjoy competitive cooking. Head Chef Kyle, sous chef Charlie, myself (all from MDRD) and a local tech center culinary student participated in a charity event here in Grand Rapids at the Fredrick Meijer Gardens. We served over 250 guests, and I had the pleasure of mentoring a local high school culinary student while we competed against 14 other restaurants and their best chefs.

Hey all! I have been so busy I forgot to tell you all where I am chefing at now! You can find me on the 27th floor of the Amway Grand at MDRD (Madrid)! I am sooo excited to be able to learn along side the chefs at MDRD. The whole reason for me leaving my position in Travese City was for the opportunity to grow my skill set, though MDRD was not what brought me to Grand Rapids. The job that brought me here was for a different restaurant and was perhaps 'not as described' when I went through the interview process, BUT it was the stepping stone I needed for me to land a dream opportunity at MDRD. ❤️❤️❤️

As I have been practicing and getting back into my cupcakes, I thought I would try a new flavor combo that I haven't done before. This is a Blueberry White Chocolate Poppyseed Cupcake. It is a white chocolate poppyseed cupcake filled with a fresh-made Blueberry compote, topped with a white chocolate cream cheese frosting, drizzled with a Blueberry reduction and topped with a white chocolate dipped blueberry. It feels good to be back in my kitchen, reviving a part of my culinary world that I loved to do so much.👩🏼‍🍳🧁

Hi everyone!! My culinary journey has led me to take a new chef position......in Grand Rapids! I am so excited for the new opportunities. Soon I will let you all know where I have landed. Moving to Grand Rapids has been a pretty big deal. I never thought I would leave Traverse City, but sometimes life offers you opportunities that you just have to trust are meant for you to follow. All this being said......my move is going to let me jump back in to cupcakes!! I am still a bit away from Clarkston, where my cupcake journey started. But, if you or anyone you know is in the Grand Rapids area I would love the opportunity to bake for them.

A special friend got married today! She, and her now hubby, let me create a rustic, yet floral wedding cake for them along with 10 dozen cupcakes. The cake was red velvet for the top tier, Chai tea for the bottom tier, and the cupcakes were lemon curd. Called my mom for a little reinforcement, and she came down to assist.❤️🧁🐝

As you have all noticed, I am sure.....Bee Marie's has had to take a back burner in my life for a while. 🐝🧁Thank you to everyone who still reaches out, wondering when (and if) I will be back to the business that I started as a 16 year old high school student who wasn't sure anyone would be interested in what she had to offer. I will get back to it. I miss it!💛 But for now, I have to focus on what I am blessed enough to do here in Traverse City. Come see me @ The Boathouse if you ever find yourself up (or down) this way.
