Final thoughts + recipes:

Yes, someone painted a picture of our blueberry muffins. As if I didn't feel special enough. (Abigail, you are a queen.) To read all of your kind messages, to receive your thoughtful gifts, to hear your tender 'goodbyes', to see how many people showed up to our closing party and how generously you donated to ...truly feels like an ending I never could have imagined. Will be in shock and awe for a very long time.

Mocha banana muffin and mixed berry scone recipes posted here. No this not the same base as the cheddar chive. Yes I demand that you purchase a scale for baking. They are like ten dollars and you are totally worth it.

Moving forward, this will be a more personal account with about 40% baking, 40% Chicago nonprofit magic, 15% Chicago music & culture, 4% cat photos and 1% Below Deck hot takes.

**Thanksgiving Pie Info**

We're now accepting orders online for Thanksgiving pies and quiche. Pick-ups available Tues Nov 22 or Wed Nov 23, 7 am to 2 pm.

Bulk orders (20+ pies) must be placed by Nov 9. All other orders MUST be placed by Nov 11, because we're mad with power. JK but there will be no exceptions and no phone orders.

It is with ALL of the feelings that I want to let everyone know that Blue Sky will be closing by the end of the year.

It isn't covid, or the staffing or supply issues (although they have made a tough job even harder.) We're closing because, after running Blue Sky for sixteen years, I'm ready to leave the restaurant business.

My heart has always been in the social justice component of what we do, and that will be my focus going forward. I am no longer interested in climbing on shelves at Restaurant Depot to look for baking powder. (Seriously, where is the baking powder??!)

We have time left on our lease, so please let me know if you are interested in subletting our dear space. Our last day is TBD, stay tuned for updates. Xoxo

Barely can stop sniveling long enough to post this. Ralph graduated from Blue Sky in 2012. I honestly didn't know then if any of *this* was for him. But it was. We've kept in touch in the last 9 years, chatting about bad bosses, catering opportunities, asking for a raise. Ralph has lifted himself up and worked with steadily increasing responsibility. He was at Chef Luciano for 2 years and is now a supervisor at Lucky Strike.

I could not be more proud of him and thrilled to call him a professional colleague and friend. Thanks for making my day, Ralph.
