🫣 Definitely questioned my abilities when I was making this!!! I’m extremely picky when it comes to precision & detail if you’ve seen most of my work so these lines that weren’t straight drove me absolutely insane for almost 3 hours! 💚💜🧡

May 2022, I signed a lease to open a storefront. This story deserves to be shared because it holds so much of my heart in it. The thing is, I don’t regret opening the store, we still dream of doing it again. I regret the timing. I often tried to find the WHY? Why was this put on our path only to fail?

We experienced A LOT these past 4 years.
I have been on quite the career rollercoaster.

I learned the pain that the site of a wooden counter would cause after I lost the man (my grandpop, who also helped raise me) that built the store with his bare hands pass away quickly in July from a disease that took all his movement, ALS.
❤️
We also found a lot these past 4 years. Possibly the most important was that my husband, myself & our children found a closer relationship with God. Our faith brought a few others even closer to God. If that alone was the reason God used me, it would be enough.
I personally believe everything happens for a reason and as unfulfilling as it sort of felt, maybe we were also part of someone else’s story that we paved the way to make it possible for them (Literally. Tile by tile, structural wall and counters).

In 4 years, this storefront has gone through 4 other bakers. FOUR! The economy sucks, rent is too high to be sustainable for such small price point item/s. I got to say though, changing the paint in there from purple to black/gray and removing the sprinkles did p**s me off haha!

One thing that quietly held constant was our mutual longing for the business again in some form. I don’t know what next month or next year looks like but I know the author of tomorrow….
