**Helpful hints/tricks!**

If you’re anything like me, baking can make a DISASTER of your kitchen in about 2.0 seconds.

Helpful hint of the week #1 :
-Cover your work area in wax paper for easy clean up!

Hint #2 (especially if it is a new- to -you recipe):
- premeasure each ingredient and label them with a marker on the wax paper.

You may be able to see from my pictures, this particular recipe had a few more steps than a typical flour and sugar cake. (Eggs mixed with some of the milk; oil mixed with some of the milk, etc). If you’re a visual person like I am, having that laid out right in front of you with each bowl makes for a pretty foolproof way of baking.

Smashing a cake is some serious business, y'all!

Sweet Joanna came to my studio to celebrate her FIRST birthday and I was so excited to meet her! When her Mom, Shannon, got her out of the car I waved at her and she gave me the cutest little smile over Shannon's shoulder. I thought "yes! She already likes me!" That adorable little closed mouth smile stayed on for most of our session and we had the best time with our 50's Diner Cake Smash.
