Ya'll probably have figured out by now that I'm a hobby baker among other things.
There should always be a "why" in what we do. I honestly enjoy baking and sharing what I make because I believe they are very good. That simple. As I mentioned before my baking venture started when I wanted to bake cookies for our grandson Brady and knew I could to do better than store bought and I did. I made delicious beautifully decorated cookies. Decorating cookies is extremely intense! And time consuming. I still bake some of the best cookies y'all ever put in your mouth, just not decorated. 😊
During my cookie decorating phase I read a statement by a professional baker that changed everything for me.
It's natural to be competitive, especially when you're trying to make money doing what you're doing. But the truth is "No one person can make all the cookies. No one person can bake all the cakes. Do you get the picture. We actually hurt ourselves when we don't support others."
(She was not talking about commercial jobs that you bid on.)
She was talking about cottage bakers. There are some that bake for a living and do a great job. There are others that bake to supplement their income and do a great job. There are others that bake as a hobby and do a great job.
How bland and boring life would be without options.
There are a few things that all have in common:
- We all believe that we make the best. And if anyone doesn't feel that way about what you're doing, well you should. You have got to believe in what you're doing or no one else will.
- We understand not everyone will feel that way. And that's okay.
- We realize people will buy for all different reasons. Because of who you are. The price. The location. Who you're related to. They won't buy for the same reasons. It's just reality. Some times it won't have anything to do with how good your product is.
-We all try our best.
So....for all of you that keep at it day after day, encouraging yourself when no one is there.
I support you. Keep up the good work.
I have no problem sharing with others what you do.
Because we don't lose anything by supporting each other. ❤️

Years ago I used to make crafts and sell them. I had a coworker tell me "If I were you I'd just do that and stay home and make me some egg money".
Well....I didn't need egg money then, but I do now. I need egg money for my cakes. 😂 🥚 😆

Stop agreeing with what people labeled you. Stop building your life around what happened to you. You are not your trauma. You are not your mistakes. You are not your past. You are who God says you are.
