Homemade Pie....Reminds me of my sweet momma and my childhood home. Growing up, my Momma had (and still does) a reputation in my small home town for making ‘the best cherry pie.’ Many people would tell her, l

y call my homestead, which is where my loving parents still live to this day. Forty acres of beautiful land, situated about ¾ of a mile off a gravel road, surrounded by deep woods. So many memories fill every trail, creek and field of flowers in what I consider a blessed place to grow up with my two lovely sisters. And you can bet those sweet memories with family included…Momma’s homemade pie. Some summers, our family would go blackberry picking out on the farm during the heat of July….and that hard work would end with Momma making a fresh blackberry pie. Often times, we would request pie for our birthdays instead of a cake. I began to admire Momma’s gift of baking and I saw the joy in giving as she brought pies to church and other gatherings and others were blessed. One day, I realized that I want to share this with Momma. I wanted to be able to carry on this family tradition. So I asked her to teach me everything she does--crust and all--to make her cherry pie, because I already knew once I mastered it...people would love it! Soon, I began making more than just Momma's Cherry Pie in my apartment, calling Mama quite a bit at first ‘just to check’ if I was doing everything right. (Sometimes, of course, I will still ask her questions). I felt like I had achieved something great when I took my first pie to a gathering of teachers at the school where I once worked….and they loved it! And you would never guess how excited I felt when someone told me, "I didn't think I liked cherry pie, until I tried yours!"
Fast-forward many years later, I met and fell in love with the man of my dreams, Nick, and we got married! So after some time of settling into our home together and completely remodeling our kitchen we decided to start Home Sweet Pie. Being uprooted and transplanted was not easy, as I am very close with my dear family. So perhaps, some of those homesick memories being stirred around in my heart fed the vision of starting this business. Now, I'm carrying on a family tradition from my Home Sweet Home to yours...for all your family gatherings, holidays, birthdays, special events and more. I hope my pie will add something special and memorable as you gather with the people you love most. So that's WHY my pies are not like any ol' pie you can find at the grocery store. I do it the old-fashioned way and make my crust completely from scratch, hand-mixed with an irresistible buttery-flavored goodness. It's the recipe from Thompson Valley my Momma taught me how to make. My fillings are also homemade with fresh ingredients, NO added preservatives, and have a flavor superior to canned pie filling.
