👩🏻‍🍳Hi friends! Yesterday was LFB Savory Saturday here.

One of our dear friends recently had a major shoulder surgery, so we made our version of meals on wheels complete with homemade pasta, arrabbiata sauce with Italian sausage, and a garlic rosemary focaccia bread. 🍝

I’m pretty sure carbs and garlic (and a nice red 🍷) would cure any ailment, but maybe that’s just me…?

That’s right, it’s LFB CV: Nostalgia Edition!

My good friend Susie (I’m not speaking in the third person, we actually share the same name) is back in town for the weekend and will be joining us for some good old fashioned LFB fun. We met in high school, where our math teacher Mr. Armstrong would make these awesome monster cookies for an occasional treat.

Fun fact: I ended up working with Mr. Armstrong in my actual job in recent years, and he would still bring his infamous cookies to work. However I could never bring myself to call him by his first name like a real adult. 😝 He was kind enough to share his recipe, so hopefully I can do them justice!

LFB Fam Edition: Last weekend we celebrated my parents’ 56th wedding anniversary, complete with a glammed up boxed yellow cake and homemade chocolate buttercream.

I asked my mom if she could believe they had been married for 56 years and she said “Yes.” 🤔 Then I asked “Does it seem like longer than 56 years?” to which she also replied “Yes”. 🤭

These two have had their share of health trials in recent years, but through it all they remain a true testament of love and commitment. ❤️

With it being Mother’s Day weekend and somewhat decent weather tomorrow, I was feeling fruity (more than normal?) so remembered these lovelies we shared last year on the cart. Full of both white chocolate chunks and fresh raspberries, these are sure to please!

🚨 HOLY CANNOLI, WE’RE BACK! Come see us tomorrow, Sunday the 19th @ 3-4:30 for CANNOLI CHEESECAKE BARS!

We took an extended spring break which happened to include the consumption of more baked goods than I should mention (all in the name of R&D, of course) from our favorite Italian market in Florida.

If you know us well, you are probably tired of hearing about said market by now, but everything there is SO GOOD and one of their specialties is the classic cannoli. 🤤 So we’re channeling that here with these creamy, chocolate chip-studded beauties. These feel like a much-needed hug after a week of very turbulent Midwest weather (IYKYK).

🚨Next LFB CV bakery drop: Tomorrow, Sunday the 8th @ 3-4:30 with KEY LIME PIE BARS! 🍋‍🟩

Here in the Midwest, we’ve been through 39 months of winter and two false springs so far. 🤨 So it’s high time we started channeling warmer weather and citrusy goodness!

👩🏻‍🍳 These lovelies feature a Speculoos-based crust, classic sweet-tart key lime filling and a delightfully thick layer of homemade whipped cream!

Per usual, the cart will be at the end of the drive at the corner of Hillside and Greenhill Drives. Also, don’t forget to change your clocks so you come at the right time. 😉

Thank you to all our visitors this past Sunday for helping spread some Valentine love! It was a beautiful sunny day with unseasonably warm temps (we call this False Spring here in the Midwest).

A special shout out goes to one of my favorite people who happened to drop by at the right (or maybe wrong if you ask her?) moment to help decorate many of these cookies for you. 🤗

❤️ These days more than ever, we all need a little extra love. We can’t think of a better way to show our love for you than a classic sugar cookie base topped with creamy buttercream frosting in a variety of valentine-y (is that a word?) finishes.

…but isn’t every day?

LFB Test Kitchen report: Tried the ‘pan-banging’ technique on a batch of peanut butter chocolate chunk classics from Sarah Kieffer’s ‘100 Cookies’ cookbook.

The result: a very tasty, soft but crispy-edged bakery-style cookie which also happens to be fun to make, due to literally banging the pan around during the baking process. This helps form crispy outer ripples in the cookie, with a soft center in the middle. Genius! 🍪
