I've learned the hard way that nuts can go stale long before their expiration date. They may look perfectly fine, but one bite can tell a completely different story. That slightly bitter, old flavor will spread through your entire cake, cookie, brownie, or pie.

🍞 Sourdough Discard Sandwich Bread 🍞

If you're tossing your sourdough discard, STOP! This recipe makes the softest, fluffiest sandwich bread with the most incredible flavor. Perfect for toast, grilled cheese, sandwiches, or just slathered with butter while it's still warm!

✨ RECIPE ✨

• 1½ cups warm milk
• 2 tsp active dry yeast
• 2 Tbsp honey or sugar
• ½ cup sourdough discard
• 2 Tbsp oil
• 2 Tbsp butter, softened
• 1 egg
• 1 tsp salt
• 4½–5 cups bread flour

Directions:

1️⃣ Mix warm milk, yeast, and honey/sugar. Let sit 10 minutes until foamy.

2️⃣ Add sourdough discard, oil, butter, and egg. Mix well.

3️⃣ Add salt and flour. Knead 10–15 minutes until smooth and elastic.

4️⃣ Place dough in an oiled bowl, cover, and let rise 1–1½ hours until doubled.

5️⃣ Divide dough into 2 equal pieces. Shape and place into two greased 9x5 loaf pans.

6️⃣ Cover and let rise until dough reaches the top of the pans.

7️⃣ Preheat oven to 375°F.

8️⃣ Cover pans and bake 25 minutes.

9️⃣ Remove covers and bake an additional 15–20 minutes, or until internal temperature reaches 195–200°F.

🔟 Cool before slicing... if you can wait that long! 😉

The smell alone is worth making this recipe. Fresh homemade bread just hits different! ❤️🍞
