So excited about Bill 398 being signed by the governor. Here is what it means for bakers like me: In Georgia, House Bill 398 (HB 398) will significantly alter the cottage food industry by allowing operators to sell their products through third-party vendors like grocery stores and restaurants, according to a Facebook post and the Georgia Department of Agriculture. Previously, cottage food operators could only sell directly to consumers. The bill also defines cottage food items as non-potentially hazardous, allows online sales with proper labeling, and prohibits local governments from regulating cottage food items, except for bans on third-party sales, according to a Facebook post.
