Here's the TLDR version: we are stretched thin and need a break.
The long version is; Kai is sick, James is way past working his limit, and Bri is choosing roller derby today.
James and Kai are both about to enter tech week for Romeo and Juliet The Montford Park Players this week! This is really exciting and opening night is Friday! But it also means a lot of late nights the last few weeks for both of them.
I (Bri) haven't had skates on my feet for something like 2 months and I really need to see my friends and move my body in a way that doesn't involve flour. This sounds so selfish to me but my mental health is something I need to prioritize or it runs away from me quickly. I also committed to playing a game today and don't want to let the other 14 people playing down with my absence. So today derby won.
But to be totally transparent we need the money. We have just enough to cover our electric bills that were due this week and then I need to figure out payroll and ingredients for next week. We have had a slow week and put a lot of effort into making last night's community meal happen.
So we will do our best to open on Sunday for a makeup donut day. No promises, we are going to have to see how we feel at the end of today (Emma starts preschool on Monday and our priority is making that day happy and stress-free for her).
All of this is to say, we are tired and are trying our best to take care of ourselves mentally and physically but we want to be around for a while.
