I learned how to cook when I was 6, and I’ve never stopped. Cooking has always brought me so much joy, but being able to share Filipino food and culture with others makes it even more meaningful.
Last week’s boodle fight class was extra special. I’m so grateful to Richmond Community Kitchen for always embracing my out-of-the-box ideas, and to my family and friends for helping me keep my nerves down.
The most meaningful moment was when a Filipina grandma told me that my adobo was the best she’d ever had. It filled my heart with so much joy, especially because it was Mama Tel’s recipe. Hearing that made me feel as though Mama Tel was speaking through her.
I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to share my love for Filipino food, showcase what I’ve learned, and honor my heritage in my own little way. ❤️🇵🇭
