One day I swear not too long ago, I was baking custom cakes for children’s birthdays…now those tiny clients are grown and getting married!!! This cake plucked all my nerves for its 8-hour southern Summer drive to Georgia. Had to use a heat stable buttercream recipe for the first time AND mount it to the cake board so it *for sure* wouldn’t slip. It made it to its wedding celebration destination, PTL!!! 🙌🏻Congratulations to Grace & Josh and their families. 💍🎂 👰‍♀️ PS-I’m *still* not out of cake retirement 😜

Briefly stepped out of cake retirement to make this trendy birthday cake for a most trendy young lady that we love to pieces. Tart based cake with mascarpone cream decorated with fresh flowers, candies, macaroons, meringue drops, strawberries and blackberries & blueberries picked right from our own backyard. Hope this sweet treat makes the day for one of our favs!!

Icing Smiles is a nonprofit organization that provides custom celebration cakes to families impacted by the critical illness of a child. I am not able to do it often, but I am glad to be a Sugar Angel for this organization. 👼🏻

Finished a Harley Quinn "fun cake" for the Icing Smiles organization earlier than expected! "Fun cakes" are gifted cakes that are basically hobby cakes. They are much simpler than the "Dream Cakes" provided by Icing Smiles as they do not need to be multi-tiered, carved, or have any 3D or luxury details. This fun cake is a sibling cake. Icing Smiles recognizes that siblings are the unsung hero's in families with medically needy or fragile children. They know that siblings are often required to put their own lives on hold and sacrifice the attention of their parents while their family is helping the child with medical needs. I am glad to be able to be a part of making a siblings day special! I hope Kaitlyn enjoys her cake! 🎉❤️🎂♦️

Timehop reminded me of this cake from this time last year. This was a cake that I donated to the Icing Smiles organization. Icing Smiles delivers cakes to children with critical illness (and sometimes their siblings who have also been impacted) to help them escape from the worry of their illness and bring a smile to their face with lasting memories of their special day. They are a non-profit organization and all cake bakers donate their time & materials to bring cakes to these brave children.
