🍽️ Long before "Buffalo made" was a badge of pride, a Buffalo factory was setting tables all over the world. Buffalo Pottery opened in 1901 as a side project of the Larkin Soap Company, built to produce the free dishware Larkin gave its loyal customers.

🇺🇸 It grew into Buffalo China, the company that made the very first Blue Willow dinnerware manufactured anywhere in the United States. Its sturdy vitrified china ended up on tables at the Greenbrier, in the dining cars of the Chesapeake and Ohio Railway, and on Navy ships during two world wars.

🏭 By the 1960s the Buffalo plant was turning out a quarter million pieces of china every single week. If you have ever eaten off heavy diner style china anywhere in America, there is a real chance it came from right here.

May of 1947 marked one of the earliest moments Bebop hit a prestige stage - Norman Granz’s Jazz at The Philharmonic concert was performed at Carnegie Hall. Charlie Parker joined an expanded all star band including Coleman Hawkins on tenor saxophone, Roy Eldridge on trumpet, and Buddy Rich on drums. At the end of September of 1947, Charlie Parker returned to perform at Carnegie Hall joining Dizzy Gillespie’s band. Songs from that concert can be found on Bird’s collection THE COMPLETE LIVE PERFORMANCES ON SAVOY. Listen now: https://open.spotify.com/album/5atR6Z1YRZpALRcgZ5QCxq?si=J43FA-a1QhyvqT1kUszzvg

“Why glass? Suppose a child comes upon some beach glass with sun on it. The little kid will drop everything to get that. Maybe I’m that little kid.”—Chihuly
