The Buffalo Beer Goddesses (BBG), formed in 2013, is a group of WNY beer-loving women, from brewers to interested drinkers and everything in between. The BBG mission is to increase the presence of women in the beer industry by providing educational and networking opportunities to WNY women in order to elevate their knowledge of craft beer.

Big thanks and all our love to our friends at for inviting us to sneak peek weekend at the new Lockport location!

We got to see how they’ve transformed the historic post office into a gorgeous space and taste several new menu items and Lockport-exclusive beers. Frankly we would die for the sticky hog wings and basil aioli, and will be crushing countless Escarpment Pilsners and White Water Belgian wits on the patio this summer.

Keep an eye out for the official opening very soon and stop by as soon as you can! Big Ditch never misses.

For thirteen years the Buffalo Beer Goddesses have supported women and marginalized groups in the Buffalo beverage industry.

Never is this work more important than on a day like today that is being erased from calendars.

You cannot erase women’s impact on this industry, we started it. Ninkasi… look her up.

To anyone who says “don’t make beer political” we say this… beer has always been political to everyone who isn’t a cis white male and to dismiss the discussions that need to be had in today’s climate is as ignorant as it gets.

This industry and the predominantly male groups that are its most visible supporters are the first to profit off of tired stereotypes and to cry “don’t get political” but they are the last in line to recognize their positions of privilege and use them to promote advancement of women and marginalized groups in the industry.

Beer is political. The beverage industry is political. Drinking local and supporting small business is political. Your wallet has power. Consider carefully how you use it.

And unless your “Happy International Women’s Day” message means that you are ready to recognize, support, celebrate, and protect EVERYONE who has a place in this community, we don’t want it.
