Bloomsburg Fair is coming to town. And it's worth a day trip.
The Bloomsburg Fair returns to Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania, September 25 through October 3, 2026, bringing nine days of rides, fair food, shopping, agriculture, livestock shows and entertainment to the Bloomsburg Fairgrounds. Friday, September 25 is Preview Day from 2 to 10 p.m., followed by regular fair days September 26 through October 3 with gates open 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. This will be the 171st Bloomsburg Fair, and after all these years it remains Pennsylvania's largest agricultural fair. Part of what keeps the crowds coming back is that it still feels like a real country fair underneath all the lights and midway noise. There are 4-H and livestock shows, farm exhibits, vendors, concerts, grandstand entertainment and enough food stands to make any plan about "just grabbing one thing" fall apart pretty quickly.
Bloomsburg itself gives visitors plenty of reasons to make a full day or weekend out of the trip. The town sits along the Susquehanna River, with Bloomsburg Town Park offering river views, and the Commonwealth University Bloomsburg campus is another familiar local landmark. Venture a little farther into Columbia County and the surrounding region and you'll find historic covered bridges, while popular Pennsylvania destinations like Ricketts Glen State Park and Knoebels Amusement Resort are also part of the area's attraction lineup. That's a big reason Bloomsburg Fair week feels like more than another stop on the fall calendar. For a few days every September, this part of Pennsylvania becomes one giant gathering place for families, farmers, fair-food hunters and people who have been making the trip for generations. There's enough to do in the area to warrant a drive.
