Welcome to Local 437!
Please join the BFD in welcoming Firefighter/Paramedic Megan Norton to the Bremerton Fire Department!
Megan was born and raised in Kitsap County, growing up in Port Orchard and graduating from South Kitsap High School. She did leave to attend Western Washington University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology, but she came back!
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Megan worked as a barista at Starbucks, serving more than just coffee. During a time when many people felt isolated, she provided smiles, laughter, and meaningful human connection to those who needed it.
Knowing she wanted to pursue a career in pre-hospital emergency medicine, Megan began working with Olympic Ambulance in Bremerton while completing her Paramedic certification through the National Medical Education and Training Center. Following the completion of her paramedic training, Megan joined the Bremerton Fire Department, where she now begins the next chapter of her career serving the community she has always called home.
Outside of work, Megan enjoys spending time outdoors hiking, lifting weights, and making memories with friends and family. She also shares her home with her cat, Henry.
Megan says one of the things she loves most about Bremerton is the diversity of the community and the unique stories that brought people here. She is excited to serve those residents and become part of the department's proud tradition of service.
We are excited to have Megan on board and as part of the BFD family. Please join us in giving her a warm welcome!
