Lately, I’ve had to turn away more orders than I’d like simply because my calendar is full. While I’m incredibly grateful, I never want someone to miss out because they waited too long.

Since I also work as a paralegal Monday through Thursday, I require a minimum two-week notice for orders. That said, I typically stay booked about 4–6 weeks in advance.

I updated my calendar today (link in comments) and realized there truly isn’t much time left in the year. So if you have a birthday, shower, wedding, holiday gathering, or special celebration in mind, don’t wait until the last minute. If you’re thinking about it, go ahead and book it.

Lately I’ve received quite a few requests for large tiered cakes, so I figured this might be a good time to explain why Bloom & Buttercream doesn’t offer them. 🤍

Part of it comes down to logistic. As a home bakery, I simply don’t have the commercial refrigeration space that large stacked cakes require for proper storage and transport. I’d rather stay within my limits and give my clients the absolute best quality possible.

But honestly? A big part of it is creative preference too.

I love stepping outside of the “traditional event dessert” box. Weddings, birthdays, showers, celebrations… I want people to feel like they can bring me ideas that are different. Unexpected. Artistic. Fun. I love when clients challenge me creatively instead of feeling like they have to stick to the standard tiered cake route.

Floral cupcakes, dessert displays, smaller statement cakes, unique textures, color palettes, edible art — those are the things that truly light me up creatively. 🧁✨

I want my work to feel intentional and memorable. Not just another cake table everyone’s seen before.

So if you’ve got an idea that’s a little outside the box… please bring it to me. Those usually end up being my favorite projects. 🌸

Sorry I never announced any extras today. 💐

Truthfully… it’s just been one of those days.

I started at 6:00 this morning and didn’t stop until almost 6:00 tonight. Somewhere along the way, I fell a little behind and no matter how hard I pushed, I never fully caught back up. To those who had to wait a bit today, thank you for being patient and kind with me. I promise I was already stressing myself out over it more than anyone else could’ve. 🫠

Mother’s Day week for small businesses is beautiful… but also exhausting in a way that’s hard to explain unless you’ve lived it.

This week looked like:

🌷 195 cupcakes
🌷 22 bouquets
🌷 4 dozen minis
🌷 1 mini cake
🌷 33 working hours total — 12 of those being today alone

I am so tired. Mentally and physically. But underneath all of that is so much gratitude.

Last Mother’s Day, I remember standing in my kitchen in literal tears because I had taken on more than I could realistically handle. This year felt smoother. More organized. More thought out. I’m learning as I go and trying to make each holiday a little better than the last. There are still wrinkles to iron out, but I’m proud of how far things have come in just a year. Next year I’m hoping to simplify preorders a bit so I can accommodate more people while keeping things running smoothly.

And my husband… he’s been Bloom & Buttercream’s unpaid employee since day one. 😂 There’s honestly very little he can help with when it comes to this business, but the things he does take off my plate help me tremendously and save me more time than he probably realizes. Today especially, I really couldn’t have done it without him.

And lastly, thank you. Truly. Every order, every share, every kind message, every bit of support means more than you know. I hope all of you moms have the sweetest Mother’s Day tomorrow. 💕🌻
