The veneer from each log has its distinct characteristics and is truly one-of-a-kind. No river-reclaimed log is the same, each and every of the log is mineral-infused and preserved through having laid at the bottom of the Kentucky rivers for a century or more, lacking oxygen and light.

This Lamp Shade Series is produced
from the only American Sweetgum that
Antique River Logs® has ever recovered.
Unofficially referred to as a “red gum”
because of its extraordinary red tones,
this 16-foot-long crosscut log was
reclaimed from a depth of 37 feet in the
Green River just below the community of
Cromwell in Southern Kentucky.

Antique River Logs® Liquid Amber Series - Lampshades

Mules and oxen hauled old growth timbers to the waters edge, where rafts were fashioned for men to ride downriver to sawmills. Logs would break free and sink to the river bottom, preserved for centuries by deep, cold water and a lack of oxygen and light. Today, William Joiner, Curator and CEO of Antique River Logs® and fifth generation river man reclaims this lost harvest, pledging to leave the smallest environmental footprint.

American Chestnut, Hickory, Sweetgum, and other species as the river provides.

Antique River Logs® Railroad Cross Tie Series - Dice*

In the late 1800s, these railroad cross ties were transported by river in a fashion similar to that of log rafts. These cross ties are usually oak and future extra dark coloring from being exposed on at least three sides to the mineral and sediments. Due to rarity, Antique River Logs® reserves this wood for small, finely crafted objects.

“Blow your Horn if you need anything, we are out picking Beans”

This is the note I found at Father Rudy’s and Anna’s, Black Smith Shop and Vegetable Stand. Written on a piece of card board with several softball size ripe tomatoes holding it from blowing away, this message was simple, clear, and direct.

This family is Amish, horse, buggy and no electricity. To visit this farm is pure medicine. I shut my radio off before I pull in and prepare my mind and heart to slow down. A recognition of all the stimuli I have intentionally and inadvertently collected becomes very apparent and, also, more easy to release, dissolve or reprioritize. All this doing quickly becomes an undoing.
I don’t blow my horn,
I just go pick beans with them.
