Had some delicious tenderloin with black garlic sauce at for a family Christmas date night. Saltbrush in has a great menu of local, Basque, and South African dishes and flavors. It’s decorated real nice for Christmas and they take reservations. Combo it with a walk around the lights at the and Capitol and grab a hot chocolate, ice cream or cocktail at one of many options along the stroll and you’ll love the night spent downtown getting into the holiday spirit. It’s been an AMAZING so far. It’s my favorite week and event in Boise! The bands like and brought in their styles and tunes to Boise, 400 bands in all. I love that even local friends got to shine out like and . Foodfort was delicious and informative w/so much local collaboration. Shout out to for organizing. The discussion with some great folks like and was such a refreshing and honest discussion. Then me and my whole family enjoyed different activities like my 13 year old doing the Treefort Cadet program for kids getting to volunteer and see the behind the scenes efforts. There is still time to get downtown and participate. Happy Treefort Y’all.

🚨New Restaurant Alert. The Wylder Hospitality Group has opened a new concept called . It’s attached to near the Greenbelt in Garden City. It’s a bright open space with frozen margaritas, fresh tortillas and delicious tacos and burritos to name a few. It was pretty busy tonight for a Thursday night and I’m looking forward to eating more options off the menu. 🌮🍹 I’ll tag Push and Pour as the location for those that use that for navigation. It’ll get you there, just off 34th St.

Congratulations to the Idaho 2025 James Beard Award Semifinalists! This is like the Oscars of the culinary world and I am so proud to have such great talent representing Idaho this year! They were all nominated in the category Best Chef Mountain Region. The 20 Semifinalists that were chosen for the regional awards will be narrowed down to a list of top 5 Finalists over the next few months. Good luck to all those nominated. The reservation for a 90 minute seating at in downtown Boise is one of the hottest reservations in town for December. I encourage you to follow them and next year as soon as you see them post the December reservations are up….usually early November….book them. Also there is dress code, a password, and hidden entrance…. the most elusive yet rewarding experience in town. This year was decorated with A Nightmare Before Christmas and these drinks shown were just a few of the fun holiday items on the Christmas cocktail menu.

Chef Series cont.: Pitmaster/Chef Tim Goebel of Boise’s opened up their first BBQ restaurant at the end of 2020 at 7802 W. Goddard in Boise near Capital High School. Now they have a 2nd location in . The BBQ is smoked Texas style for 12-14 hours in their giant mobile smoker on mostly apple and oak wood. The spot out on Goddard St is mostly takeout with a few tables. They smoke brisket, tri-tip, pulled pork, sausage and more. Tim says he’s a neighbor first and foremost which leads to their name. They also offer some great catering options. Less than 10 chefs remain in the series. Stay tuned.
