❤️ Scones ❤️

This is what happens when you let me loose in the kitchen all day. Three flavors. Twelve glazes. One very happy baker. 🍵🍫☕

R&D is my favorite part of this job and today did not disappoint. Every single one of these combinations is hitting differently and this is going to be a tough one.

🍵 Matcha - matcha glaze, white chocolate, vanilla bean, and honey lemon
☕ Chai - vanilla bean, chai spice, white chocolate, and maple chai glaze
🍫 Double Chocolate Walnut - dark chocolate, mocha, espresso, and vanilla bean glaze

This is the part of the job nobody warns you about... having to taste EVERYTHING and make really hard decisions... "Let me try the mocha one more time" 😆

The Peloton and I have a date tomorrow... totally worth it 🚴‍♀️

Family Kneads, our home bakery turned one today! Somehow, a whole year has gone by and tomorrow we celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. What a gift!

A year ago, we started Family Kneads. My husband (Drew) and I were done with the corporate world and ready to build something of our own... we wanted to build something that could include our family. We jumped in before we even knew how it would all work out, and then just a few months later, in September, Texas laws changed in a way that made running a home bakery a real livelihood. We believe God was paving the way.

I won't pretend I wasn't scared when we started this bakery. When we started I genuinely wondered if anyone would buy from us. But God gave me this peace that didn't make sense at the time. A year in, I'm still in awe of what He's done. What an amazing year! Days are sometimes long but I wouldn't trade it. Thank you Lord, thank you to this amazing community!

This Easter bake was something else. Honestly, I couldn’t even get a good photo, people started arriving early and we were pulling bags off the table as fast as we were putting them on. These pictures caught maybe one quiet moment in what was a really, really full day. The loaves, the cinnamon rolls, the dinner rolls, the carrot cakes, the scones, the cookies and watching it all go out the door to people’s tables is such an honor.

A couple of things we want you to know, we recently moved to our new ordering platform, FKBakery.com. No platform fees like our old system charged! You can pay by card, Venmo, PayPal, Google Pay, or Apple Pay. We've also made some improvements recently so the experience should be smoother than ever!

One important thing to keep in mind, our new system does not have text notification abilities yet. To stay in the loop on upcoming bakes, be sure to sign up for push notifications and subscribe to emails through FKBakery.com. Emails are also how you'll receive reminders to pick up your orders, so don't skip that step!
If you receive a text alert tonight from our old system, that's intentional, we're still using it to reach customers who haven't made the switch yet. We need to talk about Selah Cafe Coffee + Market on Main Street. They've been open since last Thursday and it has been absolutely incredible to witness. 🙌

As many of you know, Family Kneads is proud to be Selah's bakery partner, and let us just say, the demand has been unreal! We've been keeping their shelves stocked with fresh baked goods and they are selling out daily. We're still dialing in the right quantities together as Selah settles into their new space, but what a wonderful problem to have. This community has shown up for Selah in the most beautiful way.

And here's the part that really gets me. Selah keeps telling us that so many of you are walking in and asking, "Is this Kat's baked goods?" or "Is this from Family Kneads?" 😭 You have no idea how much that means to us. The fact that you walk into a brand new cafe and think of our little home bakery, we honestly don't have the words. Thank you, neighbors. Your love and support is something we will never take for granted.

Now let us tell you about their coffee, because we have to. We're a bit snobby about how we like our coffee. Most coffee shops serve coffee that gives us heartburn or is way too acidic. It's why we tend to make our own coffee. Our go-to is a simple latte, iced or hot, and Selah absolutely nails it. So smooth. Their drip coffee and iced mochas are great too! If you get the chance to chat with Travis, you'll see right away that he knows his beans and all the science behind a great cup of coffee. Their products are seed oil free too. This family is the real deal. ☕

At Selah Cafe you'll find our Classic Sourdough, Scones, Cookies, Quick Breads, and English Muffins. Items sell out FAST and flavors rotate.

Selah is currently open 8am–2pm every day except Saturday. They'll be adjusting their hours as they settle into their new space.
