We are so proud of you, Sam! Thank you for your commitment to the Bloomington/Normal community!
Congratulations to Bread for Life Co-Op Coordinator, Samantha Williams for being awarded the “Healthy Pantry Initiatives” Award! We are so proud of you and your team for all the incredible work you’re doing!
Just take it from our Client Services Director, Debbie Reese:
”Samantha has excelled in developing and improving our 'Food Farmacy' which is a selection of healthy foods for different dietary needs. Choices include but are not limited to, low salt, low cholesterol, gluten free, low fat, and high fiber. Fresh fruit and vegetables are also available in the Food Farmacy area. Of course any of our members may choose items from the Food Farmacy or from any other shelves in the Co-Op. However, members with special dietary needs are personally directed to the specialty area. If they are unable to find what they need, Samantha is intentional about looking for those products as she is procuring food each week. During an especially high volume of COVID-19 cases at Home Sweet Home Ministries, Samantha made sure that her members were still able to get food while not being exposed to anyone who might unknowingly be COVID positive. She scheduled shoppers so that they were the only ones besides staff in the building at the time. These shoppers felt safe, appreciated, and grateful for the accommodations made to keep them healthy as well as well fed. In a recent survey of our Bread for Life Co-Op members, we were told over and over again that what they loved most about their experience in the Co-Op were the relationships developed with the caring staff. They repeatedly said, "I know the staff cares about me." Samantha embodies a servant leader whose highest priority is people.”
