Hi all! have been testing and testing to refine my cinnamon rolls. And I feel I still have lots of work to do to get them perfect, from my perspective anyways. I truly think the flavor is there with the dough & filling (the filling is perfectly gooey even when cooled off completely!)
But the perfectionist side of me is still searching for a consistent looking roll. Each batch I’ve made the last few weeks has looked different. And yes, I’ve tried different methods, so obviously there are lots of variables. But I think I’m slowly closing in on what works best! I’ve tested different proofing methods & timing, rolling & cutting techniques, pan sizes & qty of rolls per pan, and different icing & packaging methods.
I know I’ll get my perfect roll eventually, and sometimes I get frustrated that it’s taking so long to perfect what should be a simple recipe. That’s usually how it goes though, right? The simple things can be the hardest to get JUST right!!
All of that being said, here’s a recent batch where I tested a few topping options with them. I’m curious what you all prefer for a perfect cinnamon topping? Full icing, drizzle icing, simple syrup glaze, or sugar crystals? Or maybe a combo? Let me know!!
And one last thing, I’ll be at the farmers market this Saturday morning from 8-12, be sure to come and see us, we’ll have lots of baked goods for your Swiss Days weekend!
