What’s hidden inside a tiered cake matters just as much as the outside if not more.
A tall cake is not “just cakes stacked on top of each other.”
A professionally built tiered cake has an internal support system — almost like a skeleton inside.
Each tier sits on its own cake board and is supported with dowels to carry the weight safely.
And most importantly — a central dowel goes through the entire cake and into the baseboard to keep everything stable during transport and setup.
Without proper support, a tiered cake is essentially one cake balancing on another cake.
One sharp turn in the car, sudden stop, uneven road — and the structure can shift or collapse.
That’s why structural integrity is something I take very seriously in every cake I make.
Beautiful is important.
But stable, secure, and safely delivered is just as important.
