Let me tell you a little secret, lean in, this is a long one 🙊
My business looks a little different this year! Why? you ask? Well it all begins with my son, who began kindergarten last year. After much debate and prayer (more debating at times) we decided homeschooling was the best option for our family. Listen, I have always thought homeschooling would be fun and before my kids were of age I always imagined doing that. Last year that fun and exciting thought was ripped up and reality hit. Homeschooling is tough. And homeschooling while running a cake business is tougher. I’m not the amazing teacher I always thought I was lol.
So this year, as I continue to trust God in homeschooling I have decided that I should take a step back from Xelent Cakes and solely focus on being a good mom and teacher during the school year. Believe me when I say I did not make this decision quickly nor lightly, and stepping away from something I love, to someone that I love is a tough yet a peaceful conclusion I’ve come to. This something (my business) is exactly that, some THING.
Yes I love it, no I don’t want to stop, but does it come before my children? Not. by. a. long. shot.
So what does this mean for all my AMAZING and LOYAL customers?
All I’m asking is for you all to bare with me and be patient, send lots of prayers because your girl needs them, and trust with me that this is just a season and as I continue to grow in this teacher position I will eventually rock at it and I’ll be able to open this back to FULL time!
In the meantime I’ll occasionally make a cake here and there but I will be doing super simple and basic designs so no customs I’m afraid and will only be fully open during the summer!
I made some beautiful cakes this summer and I’m excited to show them to you! This mermaid theme being one of them!
I love you all, thank you for being so loyal and understanding! Let the countdown begin for next summer!!!
