What a week it’s been.
We’ve been down since last Wednesday, and it’s been nothing but long days from sunup to sundown trying to get back on the road.
It started when the lower intermediate steering shaft went out. A new one was around $400, but after some searching we found a good used one for $100. Got back to work installing it, only to find out the gearbox was leaking.
While trying to address the gearbox issue, the gearbox ended up breaking, which sent us right back to hunting parts. A replacement gearbox was anywhere from $500 to $1,000, but we managed to find one for $200 that came off a 2014 Dodge.
Of course, nothing is ever that simple. Since our truck is a 2011, the 2014 gearbox is larger, so we had to modify power steering lines and install new hoses to make everything work correctly.
Then, in the middle of all the chaos, something finally went our way. The parts guy happened to have a driver-side front fender and both front lights that I needed from an accident about six months ago when someone hit the front of my truck. I had never gotten around to fixing the damage, but he sold me everything for another $200.
What started as a major breakdown ended up becoming an opportunity to finally fix everything at once. After countless hours, long days from sunup to sundown, busted knuckles, and a lot of problem-solving, the truck is now back in operation and is driving 10times better than it has in months.
Sometimes running a business means spending 12-hour days chasing parts, turning wrenches, and figuring out solutions one problem at a time. This week definitely tested us, but in the end it worked out extremely well. We saved a lot of money, got everything repaired, and now the truck is back to pristine condition and ready to get back to work.
A huge thank you to my brother Johnathan Price and my neighbors, especially my brother who took my problem and made it his own!! I couldn’t have gotten it done without you! If i would have had to wait on a shop to do the work, i would have been down alot longer than a week and it could easily have cost me around the $3,000 mark. Definitely feeling relieved and ready to get back to it! A lot of times on social media we are always sharing our wins and you see the winning part of it, but you don’t actually see what it takes to win! If you see someone winning in business dont hate! They aren’t winning because it isn’t hard they are winning because they are hard! Yall like to throw around the “It must be nice” saying….. Well I’m here to say it is NICE! It feels good to persevere. The bad times are what make the good times so good!
