One of the bonuses of working with me (other than my sparkling personality) is the cupcakes.

…okay, now that we’ve all had a good laugh at the sparkling personality bit (seriously put the cast of Grumpy Old Men in a 39 year old woman’s body and you’ve got me. Now get off my lawn.) we can discuss these flavors.

Tomorrow is the first day back for Scotia Glenville Schools, and I’m bringing the sugar for all of my colleagues at SGHS to welcome them back. We’ve got raspberry pistachio. We’ve got apple pie. We’ve got patriot pop. We’ve got brown sugar maple. We’ve got gluten free chocolate and vanilla bean. We’ve got gluten free peanut butter cup.

I’m going to be honest, it’s been a bit of a crummy day. One kid with swimmer’s ear (curse you, summer pool fun!) another with a migraine, and just sort of a funk all around. When I don’t know what to do to help people, I force feed them sugar. This one wasn’t on the list of fall potential flavors, but pistachio is having a *moment* right now and as a certified lover of all things pistachio and almond, I am HERE for it. These don’t have a name yet. Can you help me out?

On another note, even though I’m not a country music fan, I’m saddened that Dolly Parton died today. She used her platform to become a beacon of love and light, supporting tolerance, kindness, and helping her fellow human. Her Imagination Library program has provided over 300 million books for children in the US and around the world. Let’s all make the world a better place and use her example to spread love and light💖

I haven’t made Monkey in a Maple Tree cupcakes in a long time. These are banana cupcakes with a maple and brown butter flavored frosting. Why haven’t I made them in a long time, you ask?

I made them for a family party one Labor Day weekend in 2017. I tasted them and looked at my husband and said, “I don’t know what happened, but I can’t serve these. They taste like horseradish. Where did I possible go wrong to make them taste like that?” I couldn’t eat them and didn’t want to serve them. My husband tried them and looked confused. He said they were fine. EVERYONE said they were fine.

Anyway, the reason I thought they tasted like that is working hard on her recommended black belt right now, and heading into third grade in a couple of weeks. In that case, it really was a me issue, I just didn’t know it yet😂

These cupcakes are headed to the volunteers at the American Red Cross blood drive at the First Reformed Church in Scotia. I’m giving blood tomorrow because there’s a critical blood shortage right now. If you can give, please do. A blood transfusion helped to save my life after giving birth to that little made things taste like horseradish girl. The need is great, but you can help!

Hi friends! A couple of updates for you:

1.) I’m going to be previewing some fall flavors (apple pie and maple brown sugar) in the coming weeks.
2.) thanks to everyone who nominated businesses for RAKs. I’ve been chipping away at them all summer in hopes of getting to as many as I can.
3.) with the ending of August, it’s time to go back to my day job. Turnaround time on week days will be a little longer than it was over the summer.
4.) there has been a huge, recent influx in scammers contacting me. I don’t know what kind of degenerate you have to be to try to scam a (very) small business out of money, but here we are. It always goes the same way: they ask how much for cupcakes taken from a screen shot on my page, ask where I’m located, say they’re local, and ask for a Venmo. Then they pretend they’ve paid and tell me Venmo needs my email address. It’s obvious it’s a scam, but I have to play the nice business owner and respond, and honestly, it’s been a huge time suck. Until it calms down a little, I’m responding to all requests that a deposit has to be paid at an in person meeting. Curiously, I never hear from the scammers again after that. So for those of you looking to put in real orders, know that it’s pretty obvious to me whether you’re a real customer or a scammer, and I will respond accordingly!

We’ll be at Leonie Label at 432 Broadway, Suite 8 tomorrow beginning at 10 AM with some Orange Dream cuppies (a fluffy orange cupcake with vanilla bean frosting that I’m currently obsessed with) and Saratoga Sunrise cuppies (a pretty chocolate cupcake with vanilla frosting the color of sunrise; always a hit with kids!) So happy to help this family find out what flavor of baby they’re having! Sorry, had to put it in cake terms! We love a good surprise here at Let Them Eat Cake, and this was such a fun project. A mystery cake flavor (until the family cuts into it) with some creamy, dreamy vanilla bean frosting!
