We were excited to head back to the 80s as a sponsor of the Housing and Opportunity Foundation of Kern's annual Rock the Foundation event. 🎸It was an inspiring evening filled with local community partners coming together to support the Foundation’s mission of educating and empowering low-income individuals and Housing Authority residents on their path toward financial independence. OMA is proud to support an organization doing incredible work throughout Kern County. We’re grateful to be part of an evening that celebrates community, partnership, and opportunity!

At the 2026 State of the Clubs, OMA Principal Architect Jeannie Bertolaccini and Project Architect Alyssa Grishaber joined community leaders to discuss the critical fundraising needed to build a new much-needed facility for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Kern County.

For the past several years, OMA has partnered with the Boys & Girls Club to design the Teen Life & Workforce Readiness Center, assist with site work bidding, and guide the project toward construction. Our firm has had the privilege of supporting the Club on numerous projects throughout the years, and we’re honored to continue contributing to its mission of preparing Kern County’s young people to become confident, capable, and productive members of our community.

This summer, we're excited to welcome three students who are exploring what it takes to become future architects through hands-on experience with our team. Today we're spotlighting Riley Sherman, who is spending his first summer with us. He has been assisting the team with site development documentation for the Bakersfield Marriott Renovation project. During his time with OMA, he has learned how to use Archicad, applying his new skills to work on the multipurpose room ceiling for the Del Vista Math and Science Academy and has assisted with organizing our archive files.

We're proud to help the next generation of designers build practical experience, develop technical skills, and gain insight into the collaborative process behind every project. We're excited to see what Riley accomplishes next as he continues his architectural journey at Texas Tech University!

This summer, we're excited to welcome three students who are exploring what it takes to become future architects through hands-on experience with our team. Today we're spotlighting Aiden Frando, who is spending his third summer with us. He is currently assisting with development documents for the Career Technical Education Center Expansion for Kern High School District. He has also helped our team collect measurements during site walks and organizing and archiving project materials.

We're proud to provide opportunities for students to experience the many facets of architecture. It's been great having Aiden as part of the team, and we look forward to seeing him on future summer breaks from Oregon State University where he continues his journey!

This summer, we're excited to welcome three students who are exploring what it takes to become future architects through hands-on experience with our team. Today we're spotlighting Alejandra Fimbres! Throughout the summer, Alejandra has played an important role in strengthening our design resources and supporting our team. Her work has included developing and updating our Master Detail library, cleaning up and correcting drawing templates, adding new objects and surfaces to our Archicad templates and libraries, and updating our project standards to improve consistency across our projects. She has also helped our team with the schematic design processes on various projects this summer and also assembled a project construction cost estimate.

We're proud to provide opportunities for students to build technical skills, contribute to real projects, and experience the collaborative nature of architecture. Thank you Alejandra, we're excited to see you head off to SCI-Arc in Los Angeles and continue your architectural journey!

We're excited to highlight the completion of the Bell Tower Plaza transformation for Kern County Superintendent of Schools (KCSOS). Originally built in 1932, this historic Bakersfield landmark has been reimagined into a modern meeting and conference center for the educators of Kern County. Our renovation created open gathering spaces, updated conference rooms, and The Kern Room, a stunning new event space within the former sanctuary. While introducing modern accessibility and technology, we carefully preserved the building's historic character, including its original chandeliers.

We're honored to have partnered with KCSOS to breathe new life into this iconic building, creating a space that will support collaboration, learning, and the Kern County community for years to come.

Construction is underway on the 12,900-square-foot Fairfax School District Office, a facility designed to serve both the district and the community for years to come. The building blends clean, contemporary architecture with warm, welcoming materials, creating a space that reflects the district’s commitment to education and community connection. The building’s form draws inspiration from the district’s origins, echoing the simple gabled silhouette of the one-room schoolhouse that marked its beginnings. Reinterpreted through a modern lens, this familiar shape creates a meaningful connection between past and present. Built using modular construction, each section is prefabricated off-site, transported to the site and carefully craned into place. This innovative approach demonstrates how modular design can deliver efficiency while achieving a bold architectural presence.
