Meet our facial lotions…

All of our lotions are made in small batches featuring our hydrosols & garden grown and wild harvested botanicals carefully selected for their affinity for skin health.

Sunshine Youth Cream-
Our most popular and longest running facial lotion- made with Sweet Fern Hydrosol, garden grown calendula extract, antioxidant rich Astaxanthin and Sea Buckthorn CO2 extract designed to support mature skin.

Still Waters Botanical Retinol Alternative Cream-
Our richest facial cream made with Tulsi Basil hydrosol, grass-fed beef tallow, Bakuchiol retinol alternative, silk aminos, Irish moss extract and dl-panthenol.

Temple of Bloom Floral Facial Lotion-
A flower forward facial lotion featuring our Lavender hydrosol, Calendula, Tulsi and Sweet Fern Extracts, Panthenol and Copper Peptide.

Birch Blessings Fungi Facial Lotion-
My personal favorite facial lotion, featuring a base of polysaccharide rich Chaga, Birch Polypore, and Tinder Conk Mushroom Extracts, spun together with Frankincense and Palo Santo infused oils and vanilla bean extract.

Lauma: Goddess of Trees- Coniferous Forest Facial Elixir-
The forest in a bottle- Balsam Fir hydrosol and oleoresin spun together with cocoa butter, moringa and jojoba oils to nourish and protect skin from harsh northern winters.

Tulsi was the herb that shifted my focus from distilling wild harvested plants to growing a distillation garden.

Tulsi is insanely easy to grow and yields from midsummer until fall. How much it yields depends on how you cultivate it- once it starts to flower midsummer I cut the plants back to the base and then in another few weeks they’ll be flowering again. I typically save the first couple harvests for tea and then start distilling the later harvests.

The variety I grow is called Kapoor Tulsi, and it does well in temperate climates.

I distill tulsi for lots of reasons- I sell it as a pure hydrosol facial toner, but most of what I distill winds up as the base of a couple of my most popular products .

You can find tulsi hydrosol in my Tulsi Lavender leave in conditioner, and my Still Waters facial lotion- both returning to the shop this Thursday October 15th. ⚗️Still by 👘 Robe by

Returning to the shop this Thursday….. Yarrow Hydrosol! ...

Returning to the shop this Thursday….. Yarrow Hydrosol! ⚗️💧💙I love working with aromatic plants, and if I’m being honest Yarrow is not my favorite smelling plant I work with- while it doesn’t smell bad, it is deeply herbaceous and earthy with less of a conventional floral scent. However the virtues of the plant are what make Yarrow special- during distillation, a compound called matricin in converted through the heat and pressure of the distillation process into chamazulene which in addition to being a mesmerizing color blue contains potent anti-inflammatory properties.

Yarrow hydrosol is a great ally for acne-prone, inflamed and irritable skin thanks to the presence of chamazulene and other potent compounds. However, don’t think its is only for your face- this is my favorite hydrosol for body use- I love using Yarrow hydrosol on bug bites, rashes, cuts and scrapes to help calm skin.

Yarrow hydrosol will be available again this Thursday in 2 oz misters and I will have a few 8 oz refill bottles available- if you want to snag some don’t sleep on it, as I’m planning on using most of what I distilled this season in my Wild Yarrow Body Lotion!

Hi there, my name is Amanda, and I’m a distiller from Northern Michigan who focuses on producing hydrosols for my botanical skincare business Flora+Fungi.

Today I’m distilling rose geranium, which might be my new favorite hydrosol in my 60L copper still from Copper Brothers, handcrafted by coppersmiths in Portugal. I’ll be doing a combination distillation where I can plant material in both the pot and the column of the still, so part of the plant material is being hydro-distilled, and part is being steam distilled.

Rose Geranium hydrosol is rich is Geraniol, citronellol, and linalool, which give it its characteristic rosy, herbaceous and slightly citrusy aroma.

Hydrosols are great for hydrating skin, balancing pH and tightening pores, but Rose Geranium hydrosol is great in particular for oily or blemish prone skin types since geraniol and citronellol have shown anti-inflammatory properties in in vitro studies helping to soothe irritation and redness.

If you’d like to learn more about distillation, my online course is now open for enrollment- follow the link in my bio.

Additionally, Copper Brothers has generously given me a discount code to share with you- use copperflora for 10% off your order. This code can be stacked with their site-wide sales as well, so if they have a 10% off sale already going this code will bump you up to 20% off your purchase.

09/20/2026

End of summer sale! 20% off all products on our site through the end of the month -no code needed- discount applies automatically at checkout! The shop is a bit picked over but there is still plenty of Sunshine, Forest Nymph Serum and lots of hydrosols! As the season shifts I’m finally getting back into the lab restocking everything that’s currently out of stock- I’m planning on a shop update in early October once I get everything made and labels in!

I’ve been dreaming all winter about all the herbs sleeping in my garden awaiting me when spring comes- and now that it’s here I’m out in the garden like a little squirrel every day gathering handfuls of herbs to incorporate in all my food and drinks, and strong herbal mocktails have been a favorite at the moment. One of the easiest ways to make an herbal mocktail is just to muddle a handful of herbs and add in a shot of water, shake with ice and add to a glass and top with tonic water (you can definitely also use soda water but I find tonic water makes a very satisfying mocktail that doesn’t just feel like and herbal soda drink). 🌱Which garden herbs are you enjoying at the moment?
