What made you want to start this? Is the question I get asked the most. Short answer, I love to bake and create. Since I was 14, I dreamed of owning a bakery. Not just any bakery, but "The" neighborhood bakery that felt familiar to everybody that walked in. I wrote the vision and made it plain and in 2015, I opened Lolli Bop Sweet Shop. Because of your support and the sustaining power of God, that dream was realized. My original intent was to keep serving up the sweets through the spring but with the recent pandemic and subsequent economic effects, I have made the decision to close the shop doors now.
Wait! I couldn't just bounce without giving my thank you speech (I was raised right). In no particular order...
Thank you to my loyal customers who became my extended family. Your love, support and encouragement kept me going in the my darkest moments when I struggled the most.
To my Boppers (my matchless team of employees, interns, helpers) you have taught me just as much as I hope I taught you. Thank you for honoring my vision, striving for excellence and above all "making the people smile."
To mommy, thank you for flying down to Atlanta so many times just to be of service to me. And who at 76 years old, can still match my hustle and grind, hour for hour (I guess I get it from my mama). Oh and for doing the thing I couldn't... baking pound cakes!
To my Chicago hometown crew who for years held me accountable for my dream and reminded me that I'm supposed to be doing something else. Thank you for supporting me from 700 miles away. And for always obliging my "here, taste this" requests.
To everyone who would pop in just to say "hey girl". Even when I was busy or covered in flour, I still appreciated the interruption and for being thought of. Thank you for impacting my day in the most blessed way.
Thank you for embracing my unique sweet treats. I know you could have gotten your sugar fix anywhere but you chose to indulge with me! Thank you for trusting me to make your custom cakes. Thank you for the laughs and the memories. Thank you for bringing me and Lolli Bop into your lives. Thank you for being part of my sweet dream.
