✨ Introducing Kouign-Amann! ✨
Pronounced queen-a-mahn, this crisp, buttery delicacy from the Brittany region of France truly is the Queen of Pastry. It begins with a laminated dough — similar to the one used for croissants — and is then folded with sugar and a bit of coarse salt and baked to a crisp golden brown while the butter and sugar coalesce in the bottom of the pan to created a sweet, sticky caramelized base.
As if that isn’t decadent enough, we are also offering a version filled with spiced apples. If an American apple pie traveled to Paris, fell in love with a croissant, and they spent a summer on the Breton coast soaking up the salt sea air, the apple-filled Kouign-Amann would be the product of their love. My tastebuds are still zinging from the sample I tried last night. *This* is *the one.*
You can find both the plain and apple-filled version in the Pastry section of our website. They would make an elegant dessert or a decadent breakfast.
