Even though we are still having a few warm days this fall, we are rapidly approaching Soup Season!! My favorite time of the year. Who doesn’t love a steaming, comforting bowl of homemade love on a cold, windy day?? It fills you up with good ingredients and warm memories of childhood.
Starting this week, we are making our Butternut Squash Bisque again for the season. It’s a yummy blend of fall flavors and sweet cream. This soup is a limited variety—we only offer it October through January so, if it’s your favorite, stock your freezer soon for the coming months. We also offer Cheesy Bacon Potato, Cheddar Broccoli, Sweet Corn Chowder, White Bean and Ham, Hamburger Veggie, Susie’s Chili, and Tomato Basil Bisque.
All our soups are sold in quarts (in two convenient pint containers), and come frozen, ready to thaw, heat, and serve. Each quart is $12. This, paired with good bread and a salad, is a fast, healthy, delicious meal!

We have a few new items on our menu this fall that are fast becoming customer favorites. In our casserole selections, we’ve added our Cheesy Potato and Kielbasa Bake. It is a creamy mixture of Idaho potatoes, homemade cheese sauce and sliced kielbasa that will satisfy any hungry eater. We also have a new Hamburger Stroganoff Bake that is a delicious mixture of egg noodles, hamburger, and a yummy mushroom sour cream sauce. This casserole is a real winner. And, in our desssrt selections we’ve added a Strawberry Cheesecake Bar (it can be made with blueberries or raspberries too). It comes in an 8”x8” or a 9”x13” size. It has a Graham cracker crust and a creamy filling all topped with a sweet fruit swirl. We are also doing a mini 6” cheesecake dessert with your choice of berry swirl.

Summer’s coming to an end. School has started again. Life is getting busy. If you need help with family meals, or with elderly parents who can’t, or aren’t able, to cook anymore, we can help. If that’s a problem, we can try to make other arrangements. Pick ups are BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. You’ll receive an hour window for your pick up. We have two places to pick up (1431 Grand Avenue or 439 Rookwood Drive). Please state your preference when ordering. Ordering can be done by phone (515-451-5497) 9-9 daily. Next Sunday is Mother’s Day. When I was a kid, we either served Mom breakfast in bed, or made her a delicious meal for her Mother’s Day gift. I’m not sure we were the greatest cooks back then, but it was the thought that counts. If your cooking abilities(or available cooking time) seem limited, we are happy to help. We can provide ready to serve quiche for brunch, a nice casserole that you can bake and enjoy, or Mom’s favorite dessert to satisfy her sweet tooth. Call Susie at 515-451-5497 for help.
