While I’m not the first person to make a s’mores sourdough loaf, this one is extra special to me. It reminds me of my mama when it gets ordered. Growing up I was never sent to a sleep over, swim banquet, or bonfire without a sweet treat. My friend’s request was always her s’mores brownies. Offering this on my sourdough menu is a little nod to my mama…. who should really make me some of those brownies soon…

Hey Plainwell/Otsego Friends!
Place your order for delivery tomorrow (Wednesday) or Thursday! I will begin baking this evening! I will also be testing out a traditional loaf shape if anyone wants to give it a try! It is just a bit more bread than the regular boules but I can fit more of them in my ancient oven!

•Possible Homicide Being Investigated•

Victim: Midge the Sourdough Starter

Pending Charges: Involuntary Starter Slaughter - Defendant is facing two weeks to life.

Bail: $1M or 1 small jar of starter

Bond: Has been posted by a dear friend so the defendant can fulfill orders.

What We Know: Midge was placed in the oven to warm under the oven light. The oven was then mysteriously turned to the “warm setting” where Midge then baked to death.

Life Saving Measures: Life saving measures were immediately preformed by the defendant. Defendant scooped out the “baked” starter and immediately filled the jar with water and shook. It is unclear at this time if the defendants efforts will save the life of Midge.

Stay tuned as we investigate “The Starter Slaughter”.

Woo! That was a close one! I took advantage of my mama’s much larger oven and she was done 15 minutes before I normally remove them! This is why it’s so important to be able to “smell” when your bread is done!

I have ✨five✨of my plain ‘mini sourdough boules’ for sale for Sunday (AM or PM) drop off! $10 each. I will update this post as loaves are claimed.

I kindly request that all deliveries outside of Allegan County purchase a minimum of two loaves. All sales are on a FCFS basis.

Crossing my fingers 🤞🏼
I really need two new dutch ovens. But 1. They’re unreasonably expensive. 2. I haven’t figured out what sizes I’ll need with my sweet vintage oven. My oven is very petite and as it stands I can only make one loaf at a time.

🦸🏼‍♂️ Insert the part where my honey ✨might✨save the day: from the basement he rises with an oval shaped cast iron dutch oven he uses with the smoker. I had no idea we even had it. So, I cleaned it up and reseasoned it and I’m going to give it a try! I’m hopeful!!
