A crumble is a baked, fresh fruit dessert with a streusel (flour, butter, sugar) crumb topping. Ingredients like cinnamon or nuts are often added. Crumble toppings are usually denser and cakier than crisps, which contain oats.

Pumpkin or squash?? Did you know that companies are allowed to call something “pumpkin” as long as it’s a mix of field pumpkins or sweet squashes such as acorn, kabocha, and hubbard.

Technically, there’s no real difference between a pumpkin and a squash. But marketers believe that squash does not sound appetizing for desserts, so they call it pumpkin. “If I eat it with dinner, it’s squash; if it’s for dessert, it’s a pumpkin,” -John Ackerman, Pumpkin expert.

Did you know that an apple, malus domestica, is a fruit from the rose family of trees? What’s your favorite apple? Of course mine is the Granny Smith. It’s great in sweet, tart, and savory dishes. It’s firmness makes it great for baking too! The Honeycrisp is a close second. 🍏🍏🍏🍏🍏

Can you fold in the 🧀? To fold or fold in is the process of combining two ingredients by passing a spatula or spoon down through the mixture, across the bottom, and up over the top. Kinda like slowly rolling down a car window in the old days! This process continues until the mixtures are combined into one smooth formation. I most commonly fold whipped eggs whites into cake batter. Folding is not difficult to do, but it does take patience and a light touch.
