基隆三面是山，一面是海。
Keelung has mountains on three sides, and the ocean on the fourth.
志烽是第三代藥師，也是仁一路巷口那間小廟的志工。他在基隆出生、在基隆讀書、也在基隆做生意。他說基隆最特別的，就是山跟海都很近。小時候大家常去基隆嶼游泳、跳水。那裡不是沙灘，是海岸。進山裡就烤肉、找有水的地方，還會鑽進山洞的水潭往下跳。
Zhi Fong is a third-generation pharmacist, and a volunteer at the little temple on the corner of Ren Yi Road. Born here, schooled here, still doing business here. What makes Keelung special, he says, is having the mountains and the ocean so close. As kids they swam and jumped off the rocks at Keelung Islet — not a beach, a coastline. In the mountains they barbecued by the water, and dove into pools hidden inside the caves.
他念仁愛國小，就在廟口旁邊。同學家大多在夜市做生意，放學走在路上，常常遇到誰在幫媽媽顧攤。那時候基隆是國際港，舶來品店裡有日本泡麵、鹹蛋超人涼鞋，連鉛筆盒都會變成機器人。三十年前他開藥局，倉庫裡堆的是嬰兒尿布跟奶粉。現在還是奶粉跟尿布，只是變成長輩在用的。
He went to Ren Ai Elementary, right by MiaoKou. Most of his classmates' families ran stalls in the night market, so walking home you'd always see someone helping their mother mind the shop. Back then the port brought the world in — Japanese instant noodles, Ultraman sandals, pencil cases that turned into robots. When he opened the pharmacy thirty years ago, the stockroom was full of baby formula and diapers. It still is. Only now they're for the elderly.
問他基隆變了沒有，他想了很久。他說，其實沒什麼變。
Ask if Keelung has changed, and he thinks about it for a long time. Not really, he says.
